The National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, is set to host a five-day training workshop on “Investigative Journalism” from November 1–5, 2025, as part of the SIBE–NIMC Project activities.
The workshop will be held at the NIMC headquarters, located on A.W. Chowdhury Road, Darus Salam, Dhaka, with 20 participants nominated from the Directorate of the July Mass Uprising. The trainees are individuals who made immense sacrifices for the 36 July Revolution – Bangladesh, a remarkable mass uprising in world history.
About NIMC
Since its establishment in 1980, NIMC has played a pivotal role in developing skilled professionals for Bangladesh’s expanding media sector. Over the years, the institute has made significant contributions to the country’s media landscape through training programs, research initiatives, publications, documentaries, and national media awards—all aimed at enhancing professional standards and promoting journalistic excellence.

Training Focus Areas
Under the Support the Improvement of the Broadcasting Environment (SIBE–NIMC) Project, participants will receive hands-on training on the following key aspects of investigative journalism:
- Principles and techniques of investigative reporting
- Fact-checking and source protection
- Interviewing methods
- Data journalism and visual storytelling
- Documentary production
- Legal and ethical reporting practices
Through this program, participants will gain practical knowledge and storytelling techniques to produce impactful investigative reports that contribute to public awareness and welfare.
Technological Support from RAPA
As part of the SIBE–NIMC Project, the Korea Radio Promotion Association (RAPA)—with financing from the Government of Korea—has provided modern TV studio equipment and a Media Asset Management (MAM) system.
A shooting van is also expected to arrive by December 2025, further enhancing NIMC’s technological capacity and training facilities.
Project Achievements So Far
To date, the SIBE–NIMC Project has successfully organized 13 training sessions and workshops, empowering over 300 journalists and media professionals across Bangladesh.
Many of these trainees have already produced reports that significantly contribute to public awareness, accountability, and good governance.
This upcoming training aims to further strengthen the capacity of young freelancers, promote fact-based journalism, and ensure transparency and accountability in the country’s media landscape.
Certification
All participants will receive certificates of completion upon successfully finishing the training.
